LED Lighting Design

LED Lighting Design

Transform the ambiance of your home with expertly designed LED lighting. We work with you to create layered lighting plans that combine task, accent, and ambient lighting for every room. From pendant installations and dimmer circuits to under-cabinet strips and outdoor landscape lighting, we bring your vision to life with energy-efficient solutions that look stunning.

Full Rewiring

Full Rewiring

Older Brisbane homes, especially Queenslanders and period properties, often have outdated wiring that no longer meets current safety standards. Our team specialises in full rewiring projects that bring your electrical system up to code while preserving the character and integrity of your home. We minimise disruption with careful planning and clean workmanship.

Switchboard Upgrades

Switchboard Upgrades

A modern switchboard is the backbone of a safe and functional home. If your switchboard still uses ceramic fuses or lacks safety switches, it's time for an upgrade. We replace outdated boards with modern switchboards featuring RCD safety switches, circuit breakers, and surge protection to keep your family safe and your appliances protected.

New Builds & Extensions

New Builds & Extensions

Building a new home or adding an extension? We handle the complete electrical package from rough-in to final fit-off. Our team coordinates with builders, architects, and interior designers to ensure your electrical layout supports your lifestyle perfectly — from power point placement to data cabling, home automation, and EV charger pre-wiring.

Specialisation

Premium Homes & Period Properties

Brisbane is home to some of Australia's most beautiful heritage architecture — from 1920s Queenslanders to 1940s Art Deco gems. These properties deserve electricians who understand the unique challenges of working with older construction while delivering modern electrical performance.

Our team has extensive experience with heritage renovations, concealed wiring in VJ walls, upgrading aging infrastructure without damaging original features, and integrating modern lighting design that respects the character of the home. We treat every period property with the care and attention it deserves.

What We Do

Residential scope we cover

Every residential job is different — but after hundreds of Brisbane homes, the work falls into six repeatable patterns. Here's what each looks like.

Queenslander Rewires

Pre-1990 TPS, VIR, and knob-and-tube replacement. Staged room-by-room so you stay in the home. Original pendants, pressed metal, and stained glass preserved.

New Builds & Extensions

Full electrical from rough-in to commissioning. 3-phase supply coordination with Energex, distribution board sized for future growth (solar, EV, A/C).

Full Home Renovations

Architect-led rewires integrated with the broader renovation program. Coordination with builder, joiner, interior designer, lighting designer.

Luxury Lighting Design

Layered schemes — task, accent, ambient, feature. Dimmer circuits, LED strip integration, pendant restoration, landscape and pool-zone lighting.

Apartment Renovations

Body corporate coordination, strata approvals, common-wall cable routing, tenant notification for any shared isolation. Kitchen, bathroom, and lighting upgrades.

Pre-Purchase Inspections

Thorough safety inspection before you commit. Board condition, wiring age, RCD coverage, earthing and bonding. Clear report with costed remediation.

What to Expect

How a residential project runs with Jentech

01

Design consultation

On-site walk-through with you (and your architect or builder where relevant). We scope lighting, power, switchboard capacity, future-proofing for EV and solar, and any heritage or overlay constraints.

02

Scoped fixed-price quote

Detailed quote within 3–5 business days. Every circuit, fitting, and stage described clearly. No lump-sum vagueness. Payment milestones agreed up front.

03

Rough-in coordinated with trades

For renovations and new builds, we rough-in once the frame is up — before gyprock. We coordinate with plumber, HVAC, and builder so cable routes don't collide.

04

Fit-off & commissioning

Once walls are lined, we install switches, GPOs, pendants, downlights, smart controls. Every circuit is tested and energised one at a time with full documentation.

05

Certificate & handover

Certificate of Electrical Safety issued for all regulated work. One-page guide to your new installation — circuits labelled, smart home set up, any scheduled maintenance calendared.

Compliance & Standards

The regulations that apply to your home

Residential electrical work in Queensland is regulated by several overlapping instruments. The ones that most often affect renovation or rewire work:

  • AS/NZS 3000:2018 — the Wiring Rules. Any new circuit must comply, which means RCD protection and modern switchboard integration.
  • QLD Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990 — smoke alarms in every bedroom, interconnected, photoelectric. 2027 deadline for all owner-occupied homes.
  • AS 3786:2014 — smoke alarm product standard. Only photoelectric allowed (ionisation banned since 2022).
  • QLD Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 — licensed work only, Certificate of Electrical Safety required.
  • Energex Connection Policy — applies to any service upgrade, meter change, or relocation. We handle the paperwork.

What Affects Your Quote

How we price residential work

Every job is quoted fixed-price after a site visit. We don't publish rate cards — no two homes are the same. The variables that shape your quote:

Scope of work

Full rewire vs partial, circuit count, room-by-room staging, switchboard replacement.

Home age & construction

Queenslander vs post-war vs modern infill affects cable routing, access, and heritage considerations.

Heritage or overlay constraints

Character Protection zones (Paddington, West End) affect meter placement and exterior hardware.

Supply & infrastructure

Energex coordination, single-phase to 3-phase upgrade, meter relocation.

Fittings & brand spec

Standard LED vs designer pendants, smart controls, landscape lighting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to upgrade my switchboard during a renovation?
In most cases, yes. Queensland's Electrical Safety Regulation and AS/NZS 3000:2018 require that any new circuit added to a property be protected by an RCD (safety switch). If your existing board doesn't have RCDs, or still uses ceramic fuses, the regulator treats any significant renovation as a trigger for upgrading to a modern RCD-protected board. We build the upgrade into the renovation quote rather than surprising you mid-project.
Can you work on heritage-listed Queenslanders?
Yes — we specialise in it. Heritage and character-listed homes in Brisbane require careful planning to comply with both electrical regulations and heritage overlays. We work on 1900s–1940s Queenslanders across Brisbane's inner-suburb character corridor, preserving original fixtures like pressed metal ceilings, stained glass, and antique pendants wherever possible.
How long does a full house rewire take?
A typical 3-bedroom Queenslander takes 3–5 working days for the rough-in and another 2–3 days for the fit-off, assuming the home is accessible and empty. Fully occupied homes or more complex layouts take longer. We stage the work room-by-room where possible so you can stay in parts of the house during the project.
Is an EV charger worth pre-wiring during a renovation?
If you're opening up walls or redoing the garage, absolutely. Running a 32A dedicated circuit now costs a fraction of what it costs to retrofit later. Even if you don't want the charger installed today, pre-wiring an EV-ready 32A circuit future-proofs the property and adds value at resale. We install circuits compatible with all major brands (Tesla, JET Charge, Wallbox, Schneider).
Do you offer lighting design services for architectural homes?
Yes. For architecturally designed projects, we work alongside your architect and interior designer on layered lighting plans — task, accent, ambient, and feature. This includes pendant installations, dimmer circuits, LED strip integration, landscape lighting, and smart home control (C-Bus, Clipsal, Google Home). We're happy to join the project from schematic design through to final commissioning.
